Activities

A monitor from the school will be with the students during the activities.

All entrance fees and transport tickets are included.

Any of the proposed activities can be replaced for a similar one depending on your preferences.

We have organised the following package of activities for the Half Term break:

Monday: San Sebastian Panoramic

Sightseeing along the world famous bay of La Concha will lead us to Mount Igueldo, where we will take the cable-car that will climb us up to the top of the hill. Once there we will be able to enjoy a wonderful and unique view of the whole city and its surroundings from the Amusement Park located at the top. After, we will go down to the "Wind Combs", Eduardo Chillida´s well-known sculpture that plays with the waves in a curious effect that takes place with the high tide. Once the excursion is finished we will take the bus to come back to the centre of the city.

Tuesday: Sharks and Castles

It is impossible to get any closer to a shark without getting wet. The Aquarium has a transparent tube that will allow you to nearly touch the sharks and many other sea creatures. Enjoy a 2 hour guided tour about the sea life here. Watch exotic fish and animals and see their habitat and way of life. Be careful with the animals!

In the Aquarium we will enjoy a 2 hour guided tour to learn about exotic and local fish including species from the deep ocean. We will be introduced to their habitats and we will take the special opportunity of watching marvelous sharks in the transparent tube that will allow us to nearly touch their frightening jaws! An unforgettable experience, no doubt about it.

After visiting the Aquarium, and if the weather is fine, we will climb up Mount Urgull to visit its 18th century Castle and the "English Graveyard" where English soldiers were buried after a battle in the 19th century.

Wednesday: Science is fun

The Museum of Science offers more than 160 interactive experiments specially designed to explain the secrets of Science. 160 "games" that the students will love to play, from Foucault Pendulum to the way a volcano erupts, Darwin principles, the first engine, and more.

As an option, there is a Planetarium to learn something more about the undiscovered outer space and the stars that compound the firmament.

The visit to the Science Museum is a must for kids coming to our city, and one of the best activities because they will have fun while learning about the fundamentals of the natural world.

Thursday: Fishermen village

How did the locals live in the past?

This is a unique opportunity to find out how people earned a living in our region. We will visit Fuenterrabia, a typical fishermen village located 15 minutes by car from San Sebastian, near the French border. We will walk along its narrow old streets and see what it was like in the days of old.

Then, we will take a boat across the river to the Hendaya sport harbour, the first village in France just over the border.

Not to worry, passports will not be needed for the crossing.

Friday: The sweetest afternoon

There is a typical way to spend the afternoon in San Sebastian: Hot Chocolate with churros (a typical Spanish sweet). Our grandmas knew perfectly well what we liked, didn't they?

Now we want our students to experience the same sweet feeling.

A visit to the San Telmo Museum is a must. It is a picturesque building in the Old Quarter. There we will learn more about the Basque culture, and after we will enjoy "Chocolate con churros".

They will love it.

Saturday: Modern art in a gorgeous building

Famous worldwide for its impressive architecture, this "titanium ship" sitting on the shore of the Nervion river hosts many exhibitions from renowned international artists and architects.

From avant-garde styles like Frank Gehry, designer of the building, to great classics like Henri Matisse.

We will travel to Bilbao by bus and spend the whole day there, visiting the city and returning to San Sebastian at the end of the afternoon.
