Billabong Pro Mundaka

From the 1st to the 14th the best surfers in the world will participate in the premier surf contest in Europe held on one of the best waves in the world, Mundaka. Located between Bilbao and San Sebastian, this surfers hotspot is just a car or bus ride away. The town of Mundaka is a quaint fishing village that has become famous due to the perfect waves that break just outside its port. Once a year this sleepy town transforms into a surf extravaganza as the World Championship Tour of surfing visits for two weeks. Last year's contest was canceled due to the deterioration of the wave caused by dredging of the nearby river, but thankfully mother nature has taken her course and replaced the sand back to its original place making the wave as good if not better than it ever has been.
