Carnaval

Dancers in the Carnaval Parade in San Sebastian

The weekend of February 16th San Sebastian will be alive with the sights and sounds of the annual Carnavales festival. There will be parades, parties, music among other festivities. This event has become a local favourite and the name of the game is dressing up in costume. If you are not wearing a wig, mask or something out of the ordinary, you will feel left out of the fun.

One thing that distinguishes the Basque Carnavales from those in Rio and the rest of the world is that this time of year is cider season here. Many of the festivities will begin in cider houses with delicious food and all the cider you can drink. It’s a great time of year to be in San Sebastian.

Read more about the cider season.
