WEEK 1
Monday: San Sebastian Panoramic Sightseeing along the world famous bay of La Concha will lead us to Mount Igueldo, where we will take a cable-car that will take us up to the top of the hill. Once there, we will be able to enjoy a wonderful and unique view of the whole city and its surroundings from the Amusement Park located at the top. After, we will go down to the "Wind Combs", Eduardo Chillidas well-known sculpture that plays with the waves in a curious effect that takes place at high tide. Once the excursion is finished we will take the bus to come back to the centre of the city.
Tuesday: Aquarium + Mount Urgull At the Aquarium we will enjoy a 2 hour guided tour to learn about exotic and local fish including species from the deep ocean. We will be introduced to their habitats and we will take the special opportunity to watch the marvellous sharks in the transparent tube that will allow us to nearly touch their frightening jaws! After the visit, if time allows, we will walk to the top of Mount Urgull to visit its 18th century castle. An unforgettable experience, no doubt about it.
Wednesday: Science Museum The Museum of Science offers more than 160 interactive experiments specially designed to explain the secrets of Science to both younger and older visitors. 160 "games" that the students will love to explore are based on subjects such as the Foucault Pendulum, the way a volcano works, Darwin principles, the first engine and more. As an option, there is a Planetarium that we can visit and learn about, from a scientific point of view, the mysterious outer space and the stars that make up our sky.
Thursday: Fishing village of Fuenterrabia We will visit Fuenterrabia, a typical fishermen village located 15 minutes by car from San Sebastian, near the French border. We will walk along its narrow old streets and imagine what life was like in the days of old. Then, we will take a boat across the river to the sport harbour of Hendaya, the first village in France just over the border.
Friday: San Telmo Museum & Chocolate with Churros A typical afternoon in San Sebastian. We will visit the San Telmo Museum where we will get to know the Basque culture and its townships. The museum is in a picturesque building situated right in the middle of the Old Quarter at the foot of Monte Urgull. After, we will snack on the traditional chocolate with churros, a treat for that sweet tooth in all of us.
WEEK 2
Monday - Friday: Surf Classes The surfing course includes all the necessary equipment for practising this exciting sport: board, full wet suit, accident insurance and even dressing rooms and warm showers right at the beach! We provide qualified instructors that are experienced in teaching surf to people of all levels; they are all certified in ocean rescue and life saving and have spent their whole lives connected to the ocean and the waves. With their help, riding waves becomes a safe way to enjoy the beach. The classes start with exercises on the beach and instruction on basic water safety so that the students can practice in a stable environment and become familiar with their equipment before entering the water. As soon as they feel comfortable with their equipment and understand everything the instructor has told them, they will enter the water and test out their newly acquired knowledge. Zurriola beach, where the course will take place, has specific zones for swimmers and surfers. Within the surfing zone there is an area for beginners, an area for intermediate surfers and even a peak where more advanced students can test their abilities. The classes will effectively last one hour. In total, counting the time it takes to change and the casual conversation on the beach that customarily will follow any surf session, the students usually spend the entire afternoon at the beach; a healthy and natural environment. |
