L' obiettivo del corso half-term special è quello di offrire l' opportunità agli studenti più giovani di imparare lo Spagnolo, durante le vacanze di metà quadrimestre, in una località indimenticabile. Questo corso intensivo è studiato per acquisire confidenza al momento di esprimersi, focalizzando l' attenzione sull' uso pratico dello Spagnolo.

Lacunza è una prestigiosa scuola di lingue, attiva dal 1954. È riconosciuta dall' Istituto Cervantes (Commissione Ufficiale della Lingua Spagnola), dall' International House (organizzazione linguistica mondiale) e dall' Università di Alcala (Madrid - centro delle certificazioni).

About San Sebastian

Sea and Mountain, it is the ideal destination to study Spanish, especially for juniors. The beauty of the city and the warmth of its people are obvious upon arrival. It is an attractive, interesting and unique city while being small enough to be safe, comfortable and laid back.

San Sebastian has 181.500 inhabitants and a lively population of 16.656 university students. The city hosts International Jazz and Cinema Festivals.

The Basque Country receives more than 1.600.000 tourists per year.

The climate is mild and pleasant with an average temperature of 22 degrees Centigrade in summer and 8 degrees Centigrade in winter. The languages spoken in the area are Spanish (100%) and Euskera (25%)

Steps to Enrollment

Parents will receive the general information of the programme.
The interested families will complete a preliminary questionnaire.
Parents will confirm registration by January 20th.
Passport issues (visas...), allergies, food restrictions, if any, should be addressed in advance.
As this is a closed offer, budgets are dependent on number of students. Refunds will not be given.

A typical day:

8:30 to 9:00 Breakfast with family.
9:30 to 13:45 Classes and breaks.
14:00 to 15:30 Lunch with monitor.
15:30 to 19:30 Activities.
20:00 + Dinner and entertainment with the family.

Academic Programme

There are 2 main Spanish programmes to choose from our that range in their length of in-classroom time.

INTENSIVE 20: 20 weekly lessons in small groups from 4 to 12 students per classroom
INTENSIVE 30: 20 weekly lessons in small groups from 4 to 12 students per room plus 10 weekly lessons in "mini groups" (3 to 8 students); intensive conversational practice about reading, culture & civilisation as well as presentation skills.

Timetable
Intensive 20 - From Monday to Friday: 9.30 to 13.45
Intensive 30 - From Monday to Friday: 9.00 to 14.30

Levels & Materials:

Students will receive a Student Manual to give them an initial orientation in the city.
If materials are needed in the course, they will be free of charge.
Students will be organised in groups according to the level shown in the evaluation test taken upon arrival.
Students in the same group will attend classes together if possible.
If students´ level is not similar, they may share classes with students from other groups.

Live With a Family

Students participating in the Half Term Special will live with families during their stay in San Sebastian. This is the ideal way to practise Spanish outside of the classroom and an excellent way to learn about Spanish culture.

For every 10 students, 1 teacher will receive a free single-room accommodation with a family. If you would like to rent a private apartment, let us know and we will arrange a special price for you.

General conditions:

Accommodation is included for 7 nights (Sunday to Sunday)
Students should leave Sunday before 12:00
If the teacher would like a private appartment, an initial 150 € security deposit will be required in advance. Any damages incured will be discounted from this amount, which will be refunded at the end of the course.
Students must bring towels with them. Clean sheets are available in the host house.
Houses are between 5 to 30 min from the school; walking or public transportation are the best choices.
Students coming together can share a room if requested. Please request this in the registration form.
