The Basque Language - Euskera

The Basque Country has two official languages: Euskera and Spanish. While everyone speaks Spanish, almost 53% of the locals are either bilingual or passive bilingual (they speak Spanish natively but understand or speak Euskera with some degree of difficulty). Euskera is a language that is not Latin in origin nor Indo-European, in fact, no one really knows where it originated from. In San Sebastian you’ll often find that signs are written in both languages.
