Thank you for your interest in Lacunza - International House. We've been teaching Spanish in San Sebastian since 1989 and after all that time we've honed our skills to deliver quality Spanish educations at a price that can't be beat. We pride ourselves on our small class sizes, quality instructors, and an overflowing extra-curricular calendar. In addition, you can choose programmes that best match what YOU want to learn, not what we happen to be teaching. Beginner classes start all the time and we can always design specialty courses for groups.
Here are just a few of our Spanish Courses:
What is San Sebastian known for? World class beaches, breathtaking hikes, an International Film Festival, museums, culture, shopping, a festival calendar that rivals anywhere in the world, great surf, a tranquil lifestyle, world famous restaurants, and amazing nightlife just to name a few. Not only it is an amazing place to live, it's an even better place to study Spanish!
21km west of the French border, Donostia-San Sebastian has three main beaches, La Concha, Ondarreta, and La Zurriola. La Concha was made popular by Queen Isabel and is considered to be one of the most beautiful city beaches in Europe. Ondarreta beach stands at the foot of Mount Igeldo and has a more aristocratic feel to it because of the villas and gardens that lead to the sand. La Zurriola, on the right bank of the river, is a haven for surfers and volleyball players. All of these beaches rival anywhere else in the world in terms of beauty. There's a reason San Sebastian is often called the Summertime Capital of Spain - Golden sand, crumbling waves, and an atmosphere than can't be beat- where would you rather be?
In addition to being a summertime paradise, San Sebastian has a lot to offer during winter as well. Our close proximity to the Pyrynees allows for easy, hassle-free ski trips to world class mountains like Formigal and La Mongie. Tourist offices in the city offer bus trips every weekend and Lacunza always arranges at least one or two trips throughout the winter. Check the Event Calendar or with reception for details.
Anyone who's been to San Sebastian for longer than 20 minutes can tell you about Pinxtos! Walk into any one of the hundreds of bars in town and take note of the small plates covering the bars. These bite sized 'tapas' may look delicate, but feel free to dig in and sample them all.
Generally enjoyed with a glass of wine or a small beer, the Spanish tradition is to have one tapa or wine in one bar and move on to the next. For those looking for bigger plates, San Sebastian has more Michelin stars per square meter than anywhere else on the planet.
Don't take our word for it; let Anthony Bourdain make some suggestions.
