regattas
This prestigious boat competition is held every year on the first two Sundays of September in the bay of La Concha and is quite a spectacle. It is a rowing competition between drifters. Imagine the coast full of people cheering on their favorite trawler (each boat is from a town). People dressed in the color of their team. If you don't want to miss it, get your tickets early and head over to Paseo Nuevo for a front row seat. Afterwards, you can walk through the old part, have a drink in its bars, where you can try pintxos and drink wine or cider.

Cider is a local drink that accompanies many meals in the Basque Country. The apple is the star ingredient. Cider day brings together the best variety of production and it is tasted in a session open to the public. You cannot miss it! Also, you should live the following experience: from January to April, go to a cider house. There you can have a typical menu for lunch or dinner accompanied by a wide variety of ciders. There is nothing like spending the afternoon or evening in a cider house. It is even said that with a couple of drinks one loses the fear of speaking in another language and lets go.
