Getaria is one of the most iconic towns on the Basque coast. Juan Sebastián Elcano was born here, the first sailor to circumnavigate the globe and whose 2022th anniversary of such a feat will be celebrated in September 500. It is also the birthplace of the designer Balenciaga and one of the best places to eat in the whole of the Basque Country.
