ES  Lacunza IH San Sebastián

An automnal picture of San Sebastián

The wind blows very hard and shakes the tree branches. The landscape gets painted by reddish, ochre and brownish tones that give a warm and cozy feeling. Walkers make creak the mantle of dry leaves that covers the city. They seek shelter at the cafés. The Cantabric Sea is greenish grey and smells different. Hundreds of birds fly through the sky on their flight to the south... But we stay here, in the north. We wouldn’t like to be anywhere else: San Sebastián becomes very romantic in autumn.

Enjoy your autum in San Sebastián

And you? Where would you like to be? Taking an intensive Spanish course in Lacunza IH San Sebastián could be a unique experience. In November you can still enjoy a wide range of culture and nature assets: everything is at your disposal after school.

Firstly, that summer is over doesn't mean that the beach is over: there are still, for example, surf courses, if you like this sport. And, to continue, now is the perfect moment to look at the mountains and be marvelled by the autumn colors. We suggest making short trips −better in groups, so that you can meet new people− to some mountains and natural parks that surround the city. Among them are the famous monte Igueldo, the monte Urgull and the monte Ulía.
Or you can risk yourself a little further and discover Artikutza, a forest full of secrets, which is in Navarre lands, although it belongs to the city of San Sebastián due to a curious history that took place in the beginning of the 20th Century. Be careful you may fall in love with that place.

Sports in San Sebastián

Those who have been following the Lacunza IH blog, will have noticed that San Sebastián people know about sport, they value it and understand how to enjoy.
In September, we talked about the traineras regattas in the Bahía de la Concha. So this month, as well, a very popular sport event is celebrated: the San Sebastián-Behobia race. It’s a half marathon with a hundred years of history. In November 2020 it couldn’t be carried out because of the Covid-19 restrictions, so this year there are a lot of desire and illusion accumulated by the athletes. There are usually more than 30.000 brave people who dare to run the 20 km. of road route.

It’s not an easy journey: there are constant ups and downs; to successfully overcome them it’s necessary to ration very well all your physical and mental efforts. In addition to training all year, of course. The most demanding points of the route are Gaintxurizketa (Km. 7) and Miracruz (Km. 16).

The Behobia-San Sebastián is also an inclusive and solidary race. The organization collaborates with different social projects. There are several categories and everyone is welcomed to participate.

If you want to run or to work with them, you can check the official web page: We also recommend this video in which expert runners tell their experiences: Lastly, remember that you can enjoy the race without running in it. You can watch it live on their web page or through the EITB (the Radio Televisión Pública
